Crane movable pulleyThe movable pulley is essentially a lever, and the power arm is twice the resistance arm, saving 1/2 of the force and 1 times the distance.
Characteristics of movable pulley: Using a movable pulley can save half the force and half the distance. This is because when using a movable pulley, the hook is suspended by two sections of rope, and each section of rope only carries half the weight of the hook. Although using a movable pulley can save effort, the distance of power movement is greater than the distance the hook is lifted, that is, distance comes at a cost.
Crane pulley blockThe crane pulley block consists of a fixed pulley and a movable pulley, which can save effort and allow the direction of force to be changed.
The pulley block uses several sections of rope to lift an object, and the force used to lift the object is a small part of the total weight. The free end of the rope that passes around the pulley is counted as one section, while the section that passes around the fixed pulley is not counted. Using a pulley block can save effort, but it costs distance, and the distance of power movement is greater than the distance of weight movement.
