A pulley block is made up of a number of fixed and movable pulleys matched together for the purpose of both saving force and changing the direction of force action. The amount of force saved and the way the rope is wound are determined by the use of the pulley block. The moving pulley is carried by two ropes, i.e. each rope carries the object and the moving pulley.
